Oak Ridge is a donation site for the Sacramento Bee's Share-A-Story book drive! Each English teacher has been given the info and should be encouraging students to bring in books.

ALSO, besides bringing in books you can take your volunteering to the next level by leading book-sorting sessions!

As the third annual Share A Story Children's Book Drive is gearing into full swing, volunteers are needed to sort the books that will be collected throughout April and May.

In particular, Hands On Sacramento is looking for volunteers who are interested in being a project leader to lead book sorting sessions. Leading a book sorting session is a fun and easy way to increase your community involvement and dedication to volunteering. Book sorting sessions are about 2 to 3 hours long and are conveniently timed to fit around your work or school schedules.

Project leaders play an essential role in the success of the book drive. This year alone, we are looking to collect, sort, and redistribute over 100,000 new and gently used children's books. This large task cannot be completed without the help of our dedicated volunteers.

If you have volunteered at our book sorting sessions in previous years, we welcome you to come back as project leaders. If you have not participated in the book sorting before but would like to learn to lead sessions, we will train you to be an excellent project leader. If you are one of our current project leaders and are interested in helping out in between your projects, we appreciate your ongoing dedication.

To be a book sorting project leader, you must attend one training session and lead at least 3 sorting sessions of your choice.

If you want to sign up to be a project leader or have questions, please contact Paul - phicks@handsonsacto.org / (916) 447-7063 x305.
